According to the Author, the narration of the dream during a psychodramatic session creates va- rious difficulties for the analyst. It is suggested that the best situation is not in playing out the dream but in referring it to the transfert of the dreamer on to the group. The basic function of play in psychoanalytical psychodrama is then described. Play is not meant to reproduce faithfully the past reality but to re-question the significance which the patient gives it, entrusting its meaning to wish of the Other. The risk of proceeding to play, together with the fact that the subjects wish does not coincide with that of the other, is referred to Nietzsche’s concept of tragic risk and desire for power.
